The State Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Benue State Council, Mrs Victoria Asher, is dead.

 

The State Secretary of the council, Mr. Moses Akarhan, disclosed this in a press statement he signed on behalf of the council.

 

He said Mrs Asher died yesterday morning at about eight o’clock in the morning at the Federal Medical Centre, FMC, Makurdi, after a Caesarean Session surgery.

 

According to reports, Late Mrs Asher had been delivered of twin babies, a boy and girl, through operation at an undisclosed private hospital on Wednesday.

 

She was, however, transferred to the FMC where she was being treated before her death.

 

Meanwhile, the National Secretariat of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, received with sadness, the sudden death of the Benue State Council Chairperson, Mrs Victoria Asher, who died yesterday morning at the Federal Medical Centre, Makurdi, Benue State from child birth complications.

 

To this end, the National President of the NUJ, Comrade Chris Isiguzo has declared a three day national mourning, starting from Monday, 1st, February 2021 in honour of the deceased.

 

State Councils are advised to suspend all activities within the period in honour of Comrade Victoria Asher.
