The Speaker, Anambra State House of Assembly, Right Honourable Uche Okafor has said that the enabling security environment as well as the unprecedented assistance to the state police command by Governor Willie Obiano, contributed immensely to the recent promotion of the state Commissioner of Police, Mr. John Abang.
Speaking to newsmen in Awka, Right Honourable Okafor described Mr. Abang’s promotion to the rank of Assistant Inspector General of Police as expected and deserving in view of his experience in security matters and dedication to duty.
The Speaker, who enjoined the newly promoted AIG to continue his good services, called on police officers under him to give him maximum support for the overall security of lives and property of the citizenry.
He commended Governor Willie Obiano for the wonderful support his administration has continued to give to the security agencies in the state in terms of funding and facilities, adding that the state legislature is committed to enacting laws aimed at improving the security architecture of the state at all times.
Right Honourable Okafor extolled the Police Service Commission for recognizing Mr. Abang’s sterling security potentials through his recent promotion and pleaded with the commission to accord him all necessary assistance to excel.
