Anambra State Govt has established a caretaker committee for Awgbu Progressive union Orumba North Local Government Area.
A statement from the office of the Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftainacy and Community Affairs said this Followed the failure of Awgbu Progressive Union (APU) to conduct election of executive of the Union oo 27th December, 2020 and the need to avoid leadership vacuum in the community and consequently the Government of Anambra State approved the setting up of a caretaker committee to run the affairs of the town for the next three months.
It stated that the composition of the Caretaker Committee as follows, Jeo Ndubuisi Onwuchekwe (Ugwu village) Chairman,Hon. Ogechukwu Ezeajuaghi (Osikwu Village) Secretary, Chief Oilver Ideh (Ugwu Village) Member, Hon. Engineer Peter Obi (Osikwu Village) Member,Chief Uchenna Ezeyili (Ozulumba/Amugo Village) member, Chief Sunday Maurice Ezeani (Abornator Village)member, Mr. Sunday Okeke (Mbulukor Village) member, Mr. Uchenna ezeaku (Mbaulukor village) member, Mr. Obiafune Izuchukwu (Ozuuluma /Amugo village) member and Mr. Edozie Ifediata (Abornato Village) member.
According to the release, the terms of reference of the Committee include to reconcile the different factions in the community if any, to put in place, a structure that will ensure and sustain peaceful co-existence in the community and to prepare grounds for the conduct a creditable Awgbu Town union election to be supervised by the ministry.
It specified that the committee has three months tenure with effect form 3rd February 2021.
and will expire on third May, 2021 except otherwise extended by the government.
