The governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano has expressed his profound condolences to governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State on the recent passing of Enugu State Commissioner for Transport, Chief Matthias Ekweremadu; a blood relation of former Deputy Senate President, Senator Ike Ekweremadu.
The late Chief Ekweremadu was reportedly to have suddenly slumped and died while in active service to his state.
In a statement signed by James Eze, his Chief Press Secretary, Governor Obiano expressed his condolences to his Enugu counterpart, the Ekweremadu family and the people of Enugu State, urging them to find solace in fact that the deceased commissioner left behind a legacy of service.
“There’s probably no greater honour than to die in the service of one’s people. Chief Ekweremadu gave his best in the service of his people, starting his public service career as a council chairman and rising through the ranks to serve in important positions as both a legislator and a member of the cabinet. He has run a good race,” governor Obiano observed.
“He led a meaningful life…a life that touched many lives in his various capacities. This should be enough consolation to my brother; the governor of Enugu State, the Ekweremadu family and the people of Enugu State in general. Our prayers and thoughts are with you all in this moment of grief,” governor obiano further remarked.
