The Chairman Anambra State Local Government Service Commission Awka, Dr. Peter Egenti has warned all branch NULGE Executives and entire council staff of the twenty-one Local Government Area, to shun all forms of gross misconduct and disrespect to the constituted authority to avoid sanction.
Dr. Egenti who gave the warning at Ukpo, the headquarters of Dunukofia LGA while addressing three NULGE Executives in the council area that tendered public apology to the Board before the Transition Committee Chairman of the Local Government Mr. Patrick Chinweze and the entire staff for act of insubordination, reiterated that number one statutory function of the Commission as provided for in Anambra State Local Government Law 1999 as amended was to appoint, promote, discipline, recruit and sanction staff on salary grade seven and above.
The staff recently denied the Board members access to address the workers and right to use the council hall when the board visited the council during an official tour of the twenty-one Local Government Areas.
The Commission Boss who reaffirmed the Boards resolution to transform Anambra State Local Government system positively emphasized the need for workers to always observe due process and accord maximum respect to constituted authority as being emphasized by the Commission during official visits and engagements.
Dr. Egenti who also called on the workers to be disciplined and productive and urged them to be law abiding and shun all actions that can lead to the collapse of the system.
He further reminded workers of the recent policy of the Commission which includes restriction of unauthorized visits to the Commission, temporary suspension of issuance of Gen 35, submission of evidence of approval of further studies within six months of obtaining admission from the recognized institution, posting of key officers who have stayed two years in a particular station among others, adding that this will help to reduce the rate at which workers manipulate their official records.
However, the three affected NULGE EXCOS admitted their gross misconduct to the Commission during their official visit to the council and pleaded for forgiveness.
Responding, the Transition Committee Chairman of Dunukofia Local Government Area Mr. Chinweze, blamed the NULGE EXCOS for insubordination and expressed gratitude to Board Local Government Area for being consistent with the advice on discipline and productivity.
