The General Manager Anambra State Physical Planning Board Mr Nwabufo Anene has advised developers to always make inquiries before purchasing any land.

He gave the advice when he led a joint government Task Force on recovery of government lands which were illegally acquired by a private developer at Igbariam farm settlement in Anambra East Local Government Area.

Mr Anene who maintained that not every land is for sell reiterated that the Board is committed to recovering all government lands that were illegally acquired by individuals.

Also speaking, the President of Igbariam Youths Mr. Stanley Okoye who came to the site with his members expressed happiness over the move by the government reaffirming that the land belongs to Igbariam community but was given to government as farm settlement.

The Transition Committee Chairman of Anambra East Local Government Area, Mr. Obi Nweke who hails from Igbariam, described it as a welcome development because according to him, the community is unaware of the sale of the land in question, which he said was the connivance of a few individuals in the community.

While appreciating Governor Willie Obiano for taking up the challenge, he called on him to look into the activities going on in Igbariam community, warning land speculators to desist forthwith even as he advised developers to make inquiries beyond the town Union before making any purchase.

The task force also embarked on the removal of shanties being used as hideout to perpetrate crime within an estate at three-three Nkwelle-Ezunaka in Oyi Local Government Area.
