The Tansian University community has organized a Requiem Mass in honor of the Founder, Pro chancellor and chairman Governing Council of the University, Late Very Reverend Monsignor Professor John Bosco Akam.

The mass was held at the Tansian University Umunya, Oyi Local Government Area which attracted academicians, students, Reverend Fathers and lectures who were in their numbers to celebration the life and times of their fallen hero.

In his homily during the mass, the Assistant Registrar of the Institution, Reverend Father Justin Egbe said they have gathered to mourn and celebrate their founder and mentor the late Very Reverend Monsignor Akam whose initiative has impacted lives positively in different dimensions, saying that the late Monsignor lived selfless life of charity.

Reverend Father Egbe called on the congregation to always remember that life is a journey hence they should emulate the legacies their founder left behind.

Speaking to the ABS later in an interview, the Vice Chancellor of the school Professor Eugene Nwadialor recounted so many lives the late Monsignor has touched through granting scholarships to the physically challenged and the down trodden in the society, saying that the university community are going to miss him dearly.

His bosom friend and colleague, Very Reverend Father Chukwuemekaram Okonor described the Late Monsignor Akam as his good friend and mentor who has been a source of inspiration to him, adding that he lived a life of good deeds.

On her part, Miss Ngozi Oluoha who disclosed that she benefitted from the scholarship of the Late Monsignor up to Master’s Degree level noted that he lived a life worthy of emulation.

Some of the students of the School, including Mr. John Udeh and Miss Chinelo Anyaegbu said his death is still a shock to them as they are going to miss his fatherly advice and promised to keep his legacies and prayed God to grant him eternal rest.
