The chairman, Anambra State Security Trust Fund, Chief Chidi Anyaegbu, has donated two million naira to Anambra State Vigilant Group, AVG, to boost their morale.

Correspondent, Queen Anigbogu reports that Chief Anyaegbu made the donation during a thank you visit to the group at their Lions Building headquarters, GRA Awka, over the weekend.

He described the AVG as a grassroots security outfit and called on Ndi Anambra to give them maximum support to enable them to carry out their work effectively.

The Anambra State Security Trust Fund boss stressed the need for people to respect and encourage them noting that when this  is done it will motivate the security outfit to go to a large extent to protect the lives of the public.

Responding, the chairman, Anambra State Vigilant Group, retired CP Ikechukwu Aduba, while thanking him for the gesture, said the global economic downturn has increased criminal activities.

Retired CP Aduba, however noted that the downturn of the economy is no excuse for anyone to engage in criminal activities and warned parents to talk to their wards as AVG has commenced aggressive patrol around the state and will not spare anyone found wanting.

He also asked landlords to be mindful of the kind of persons they accept as tenants and should not hesitate to report people of questionable characters to the appropriate quarters.
