Respondents that spoke to the ABS were of the view that the appointment will serve as image launder to the Nation and Africa in General.
A legal practitioner, Barrister Umeh Ezinwa described the appointment as a welcome development going by her wealth of experience as a former Minister of Finance.
While congratulating her as the first woman and African to assume such position in the world, Barrister Ezinwa noted that her appointment will serve as a good channel to bring change and boost the African Economy.
On his part, the Director General Onitsha Business School, Professor Olusegun Sogbesan described the appointment as a long awaited one as she is the most competent from Africa to handle the position, even as he described the appointment as an impression that good thing is coming out of Nigeria.
Contributing, Mrs. Ngozi Adieme, who congratulated Dr. Okonjo-Iweala for her new appointment, noted that it is a blessing for Nigeria and Africa in general as she is known for her hard works and urged her not to relent.
Onitsha based businessmen, Chief Anthony Ewelukwa and Sir Anthony Okonkwo described her as an intelligent woman advising her not to allow distraction from any quarter.
