Family, friends and well-wishers gathered over the weekend for retirement thanksgiving and celebration of the Head of Optometry, Ministry of Health Anambra State, Dr. Agatha Mouka.
The event which took place in Awka was to celebrate and thank God for her retirement from thirty six years of active service.
Congratulating the celebrant, the Head of Service Anambra State Barrister Harry Udu, the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Vincent Okpala, and the traditional ruler of Umeri, Igwe Benneth Emeka, commended Dr. Agatha for her service in optometry, saying that her impact in the service will not be easily forgotten as she strived to improve optometry in Anambra State.
Eulogizing Dr. Agatha for her doggedness and assiduous efforts towards optometry across Anambra State, the Chairman on the occasion, the Registrar Optometry and Dispensing Optician Regulatory Board of Nigeria, Professor Ebele Uzodike said that her retirement created a vacuum for the younger generation to fill and continue her good works, advising that people should make maximum use of any opportunity they get especially for  service to God and the society.
The husband of the celebrant, Pastor Innocent Mouka while thanking God for his wife’s successful journey through her profession, prayed God’s blessing on all who came to celebrate with her.
Visibly filled with joy, the celebrant Dr. Mouka, while recalling God’s faithfulness upon her and her family throughout her service year, thanked all who supported her and those who came to celebrate with her.
Speaking in an interview, the son of the celebrant, Dilichukwu Mouka thanked God for a successful active service year of his mother, praying God to strengthen her in her future endeavours.
Others present during the event were the Commissioner for Basic Education, Professor Kate Omenugha, Traditional ruler of Adazi nnukwu, Igwe Austin Obiekezie represented by Chief Pius Obiakornwa, former Head of Service Barrister Ngozi Melifonwu, Ifeomamebe Ojiakor of ABS among others.
The event featured breaking of kolanut, dance, drama and cutting of cake.
