Twenty five years anniversary celebration of Diocese of Nnewi, Anglican Communion held over the weekend at the Cathedral Church of St. Mary, Nnewi was a moment for individual members of the church to come together, as a body who have been blessed by the lord.

The Anglican Bishop of Nnewi Diocese, Right Reverend Ndubuisi Obi who led priests of the Diocese in a special service to mark the celebration expressed gratitude to God and those who contributed to the success story of the Diocese noting that the journey is still far hence the need for the Anglican faithful of the Diocese to renew their efforts.

Right Reverend Obi who unveiled his vision for the Diocese, presented Diocesan Merit Award to Sir Emeka Okwuosa, an indigene of Oraifite and Chief Executive Officer, Oilserv Limited, former female governor of Anambra state, Dame Virgy Etiaba, retired Archbishop of the Diocese, Prof. Godwin Okpala among others who contributed immensely to the growth of the Diocese.

Sir Emeka represented by Sir Azuka Okwuosa who is the Executive Director of Sir Emeka Okwuosa Foundation, thanked the Anglican Diocese of Nnewi for the honour bestowed on his brother, pledging their total commitment to the growth and development projects in the Diocese.

In a sermon to mark the anniversary celebration titled “That I May Know Him” Coordinator of Evangelists, Diocese on the Niger, Evangelist Joshua  Chukwujekwu said the present generation falls easily in faith because they lack deep knowledge of Christ which made them to go back to idolatry.

Evangelist Chukwujekwu charged Christians to renew their efforts to defend their spiritual gains praying that the anniversary will usher in repentance among the faithful.

Knights President, Nnewi Diocese, Sir Ezekiel Okeke and a friend of Okwuosa family, Sir Alphonsus Ogbuisi who spoke to the ABS in Oraifite at the reception in honor of Sir Emeka Okwuosa, said he deserved the award considering his outstanding humanitarian gestures in the Diocese and beyond and prayed God to bless him.

Cutting of the silver jubilee cake and songs by the choir featured during the event which attracted personalities from across Nigeria.
