The Anambra State House of Assembly has passed a resolution calling on the Commissioners for Health, Information and Public Enlightenment to intensify efforts on dissemination of information on what a person suspected to be infected by COVID -19 should do.

 

The resolution was sequel to a motion of urgent public importance sponsored to that effect by the member representing Anaocha Two Constituency, Honorable Ejike Okechukwu during yesterday’s plenary.

 

Explaining the motion, Honorable Okechukwu expressed worry that many have died from complications arising from the virus due to ignorance and lack of knowledge, hence the need for the Commissioners to do more aggressive dissemination of information on the deadly virus.

 

Honorable Okechukwu who is a COVID-19 survivor, commended Governor Willie Obiano for showing enough capacity in managing the spread and treatment of COVID-19 pandemic in the state.

 

On his part, the member representing Dunukofia Constituency, Chief Lawrence Ezeudu who said that treatment of COVID-19 patients should not be left to COVID-19 treatment centres alone, asked the Ministry of Health to straighten all the primary health centres across the state to handle COVID-19 related cases to give people access to quick Medicare.

 

In his contribution, the member representing Nnewi North Constituency, Honorable Nonso Okafor who commended the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Vincent Okpala for the care and love he showed Honorable Okechukwu who survived coronavirus pandemic stressed the need for the commissioners to embark on more aggressive dissemination of information about the deadly virus to save lives.

 

Speaker of the House, Right Honorable Uche Okafor who regretted that the virus is killing human beings the world over, expressed confidence that if certain information on necessary steps to take especially as it concerns people showing symptoms of the virus is passed down to the last man on the street, a lot of death will be averted.
