Lands behind Nwafor Orizu College of Education Nsugbe, belonging to Anambra state government which had been illegally acquired and occupied by various private developers have been reclaimed by joint task force on government land recovery.

Government House Correspondent, Ejike Abana reports that the government Task Force led  the  team to the area of land totaling one hundred and twenty-six thousand, three hundred and thirty-seven-point-nine-eight-four square meters where buildings and fences   already erected in defiance to series of government warnings  were demolished.

Most of the people erecting structures were served notices as far back as June, 2020 when the team officially commenced the process of recovery.

According to the Executive Chairman of Physical Planning Board, Barrister Chike Maduekwe who led the exercise, people make the mistake of going into lands not being used without asking questions, emphasizing that the exercise is in continuation of the process commenced by the task force since June last year on the directive of the state governor.

He pointed out that even after marking the place and sealed as government land given to the College,  some  youths who have no right over the land, persistently sold the lands to unsuspecting members of the public.

While stating that even the villagers  were not happy because people who are genuinely interested in purchasing community lands run away, he warned that government is planning to do something with the land, as such people should keep off.

Speaking to the ABS, an indigene of the community who introduced himself as the Vice Chairman, Land Committee, Ogwuari Village, Nsugbe, Pastor Achuwa Ifejika,  affirmed  that the  land  belongs to government but given to Nwafor Orizu College of Education, explaining that they are not happy with what is going on because it  smears  the good name of the community, advising youths involved against selling lands indiscriminately, but to engage themselves in other meaningful ventures.
