Anambra State Association of Town Unions, ASATU, has expressed its determination to support the efforts of the Obiano administration in promoting and projecting Igbo cultural festivals in order to enhance sustainable development in various Communities.

The President of the Association Chief Titus Akpudo, who disclosed this at the 2021 “Ede festival” of Umunnachi Community in Dunukofia Local Government Area called on individuals and various towns in the State to always promote their culture, adding that the association will organize a state-wide cultural festival this year to further showcase the identity of Ndi Igbo and promote bond of unity.

The immediate past President of ASATU, Chief Alex Onukwue, and President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo in Anambra State, Prince Emeka Udodeme, extolled the think-home philosophy of the Obiano administration, which encompasses reviving and projecting Igbo cultural festivals to the International Community, calling for its sustenance.

On their parts, the former Transition Committee Chairman of Dunukofia Local Government Area and Director-General, Anambra State Youth Mobilization, Technology and Innovation, Mr Emeka Okonkwo, as well as a popular Nollywood actor, Zubby Michael, called on youths to mobilize and channel their energy to the development of the State.

Correspondent Joseph Egbeocha reports that during the  festival, youths of Umunnachi Community gathered at the home of a cultural proponent and Chief of Protocol to Governor Willie Obiano, Chief Uzuegbuna Okagbue, for “ipia osisi”, as part of activities lined up  to mark the 2021 “Ede festival” of the Community, which equally featured different masquerade displays from neighboring Communities.

Some Youths of the Community, including Messrs Uchenna Eziamaka and Ifeanyichukwu Onuah, described the festival as a unifying factor.
