Anambra State Magistrate Court holding in Awka has adjourned to April ninth 2021, case between the Anambra State Commissioner of Police and Messrs. John Osita and Musa Achewa Umoru over the death of Governor Obiano’s Security Aide, late Mr. Azubike Ekwegbalu.

The two were brought to the Court on charges bordering on murder and armed robbery.

The offences are punishable under section 494 of the Criminal Code Cap 36 Volume II Revised Laws of Anambra State of Nigeria 1991, section 274(1) of the Criminal Code Cap 36 Volume II Revised laws of Anambra State of Nigeria 1991, and section 1(2)(a) of the Robbery and Firearms (Special Provisions) Act Cap R. II Laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 2004.

Correspondent, Joseph Egbeocha reports that when the matter was called up, the presiding magistrate, Mike Anyadiegwu Esq, adjourned the matter to ninth of April 2021, to enable the Anambra State Directorate of Public Prosecution, DPP, inform the Magistrate Court whether information has been filed at the High Court, failure of which, the Magistrate Court may consider bail application for the defendants.
