The State Chairman of All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA Sir Norbert Obi has urged members of the political class to uphold sense of maturity and responsibility in pursuing their aspirations. Speaking in Awka, Sir Norbert enjoined them to shun acts capable of over heating the polity as the state prepares for coming gubernatorial election. Paul Ezeoke reports that
Sir Norbert stressed that election should not be a do or die affair ,adding that principal actors should imbibe spirit of sportsmanship, patience and tolerance as well as play according to the rules and guidelines regulating the electoral process.
He said APGA has intensified preparations for the governorship election and has toured almost all the Local Government Councils in the state to interact with people at the grassroot.
He said the party is also organising seminar for its members to prepare them for the coming primaries of the governorship election as well as revalidating party membership and registration of new members to accommodate those who have attained the age of eighteen.
Sir Norbert noted that APGA administrations in the state over the years have made strong statement in good governance which other states are now trying to emulate ,adding that Governor Willie Obiano has continued to provide purposeful and focused leadership that has impacted positively on the lives of the people .
He charged Ndigbo to embrace APGA as a political platform to achieve the Igbo agenda of having stronger voice and strength of bargain on national issues and affairs.
Also speaking, a political Stewart, Chief Stephen Onyebuchukwu urged INEC to scale up preparations for the coming governorship election in the state to ensure that adequate manpower and logistics are deployed early enough for the exercise to actualize hitch free election.
Chief Onyebuchkwu cautioned politicians against campaign of calumny, naming calling and acrimony while urging National Orientation Agency NOA and other stakeholders to intensify enlightenment campaign on the coming election.
