Report says that Italy will be placed under a new national lockdown from April third to fifth during Easter weekend celebrations.

The move is aimed at fighting to control a wave of infection.

According to the report, from Monday, movement between towns in most of the country will be restricted and restaurants and bars closed.

Only essential shops will be allowed to open, and people must stay at home except for work, health or emergency reasons.

Several regions, including Lombardy in the north and Calabria in the south will join other areas designated as “red zones”, where risks are highest.
