On November 3rd 2017, Anambra Broadcasting Service joined the league of digital compliant broadcasting houses in Nigeria when Governor Willie Obiano commissioned the new television and radio studios.
Thus huge feat further cemented the Station’s leading presence on the Social Media with most impacting and all round creation of contents on comic, entertainment, News and programmes as well as providing the platforms for businesses to reach more people.
Correspondent Amarachukwu Okafor looked at the development as it coincides with Governor Willie Obiano’s seven years anniversary.
The reach on the Facebook particularly with now over eight hundred thousand followers and over three hundred and fifty thousand likes on Facebook, attained by the ABS was made possible because of the enormous support of the governor and his wife Dr. Ebelechukwu Obiano.
Speaking on the achievements , the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Anambra Broadcasting Service, Chief Uche Nworah said it was significant that ABS attained the height at a time that fell coincidentally with Governor Willie Obiano’s anniversary of seven years in office.
He said the Governor played a major role in the success of the ABS as the organization was nothing to be reckoned with before his assumption of office.
Chief Nworah who expressed satisfaction that the ABS, a major priority of Governor Obiano, is also reflecting his administration’s lofty vision of setting pace in various sectors of the country.
He emphasized that the success of the station cuts across all aspects including workers welfare, full digitalization and has been launched on different prepaid television.
For the Director, News and Current Affairs Department of the station, Mr. Gab Okpalaeze, it is remarkable for the future of the station and promised the people that the station will sustain quality contents and more exciting programmes to its audience
A Lecturer at the Department of Applied Biochemistry, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Mr. Kingsley Uboji, expressed satisfaction with the strong social media presence of the station as it has provided people opportunity to make contributions, participate in its programmes through the social media and phone ins and encouraged the establishment to keep it up.
In his reaction, a Civil Society Activist, Mr. Michael Opiah, who is also a follower on ABS social media pages, applauded the station for a job well done and thanked the MD/CEO, Chief Nworah for his good initiative which he described as putting a peg in a square hole.
A Cyber Command staff of ABS, Mr. Steven Nwainokpor noted that before the intervention of Governor Willie Obiano, the establishment only operates on local terrestrial cables which is equivalent to town crying and revealed that it has not been an easy journey breaking the station on the social media
