As part of activities lined up to mark Governor Willie Obiano’s seven years anniversary, Anambra State Government has named the road from Governor’s Lodge to Eke Nibo after the immediate past Group General Manager Public Affairs, of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation NNPC, Chief Ndu Ughammadu Boulevard.
The ceremony which took place at the Awka South Local Government Area Headquarters, was chaired by the National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance APGA Dr. Victor Oye with some traditional rulers in attendance
Correspondent Chidinma Ikeanyionwu was there and reports that while speaking after receiving an Award for the road named after him, Chief Ughammadu who was represented by the President of the Rotary Club of Awka UNIZIK chapter, Rotarian Abuchi Nwozor, thanked the Anambra State government for the honour done him, even as he promised to always ensure that the road is in good condition.
Chief Ughammadu who is currently the Media consultant to the Secretary General of Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) used the opportunity to call on Ndi Anambra to take full ownership of the State, congratulating Governor Willie Obiano on his seven years anniversary.
The Managing Director, Anambra State Signage and Advertisement Agency, Chief Jude Emecheta said street naming project will help to digitally map streets within Awka Capital Territory globally using Google, and also help in smart transport system, better security coverage and good response of security personnel during emergencies.
The Project consultant, Chief Emeka Okonkwo rejoiced with Ndi Anambra on the occasion of the seventh anniversary of Chief Willie Obiano administration and said that the Governor has done so much in the state.
Meanwhile the road linking Millennium City Avenue Agu Awka was named after the governor of Anambra State Chief Willie Obiano while the road linking Ngozika Estate was named after his wife Dr. Ebelechukwu Obiano.
The street that links Winco Foam factory junction through Obizi River Agu Awka was named after the company.
Speaking shortly after the unveiling, the Chairman Winco Foam Company Nigeria limited Dr. Godwin Okafor who spoke through his Awka branch manager Mr. Samuel Iheoha promised to always support the projects of the state government which will bring more investments and development to the state.
Highlights of the event is the official commissioning of the street naming project conducted by Dr. Victor Oye, while Mr. Leo Nwuba, the Awka South Local Government Area Chairman unveiled all the Boulevards.
