A-seven-man delegation from Universal Basic Education Commission Abuja has successfully inspected the construction of UBEC Zonal Model School Isiagu, Awka South Council Area.
The delegation, led by UBEC ICT Consultant, Professor Bashir Galadanchi has the Korean technical team led by Korean International Cooperation Agency Country Director, Mr. Woochan Chang.
Education correspondent, Theophilus Ukoha reports that the inspection was aimed at ascertaining the extent of work done so far at the project
On arrival at the site, all the engineers were on ground to answer pertinent questions from the delegation.
Speaking, Professor Galadanchi, said the Commission is out to ensure that most schools in the country followed the international ICT driven standard of education and expect the state government to endeavor to replicate the model as provided by UBEC.
He however stated that the model two category of the zonal school that is being constructed in the state will house primary and junior secondary schools, which UBEC will continue to give basic necessary support and however warned of poor maintenance culture, charging the contractors to expedite actions to meet the expected completion time.
In his response, the chairman of ASUBEB, Chief Patrick Ugboaja said the state government through the Board will no doubt ensure that construction is complete on schedule.
While assuring ASUBEB’s readiness to acquire the school on completion, Chief Ugboaja promised to ensure that standard is maintained.
For the Director, Planning, Research and Statistics, Chief Uchenna Ezeani, who is also the procurement department and resident supervisor of the project, the work will be completed as scheduled.
