The remains of Late Chief Samuel Okoye have been laid to rest at his country home, Obeagu Ugboawka, Nkanu East Local Government Area of Enugu State.

Delivering a sermon during the Funeral Mass, the Parish Priest, Holy Trinity Parish Amafor Ugboawka, Reverend Father Don Mary, described the commitment of the children of the deceased towards transforming lives of the people, as testimony to the philanthropic life lived by their late father and urged them to sustain it.

In their separate speeches, the President, Nigeria Bar Association, Barrister Olumide Akpata, Barrister Ben Chukwu, and Igwe Bennett Emeka of Umueri, consoled the family and enjoined them to be proud of the kind of father they had.

Earlier during a vigil, Anambra State High Court Chief Justice, Justice Mike Okonkwo and Chief Vincent Chukwukezie  said, posterity would ever remember the legacies laid by the late Chief Okoye and prayed God to give the people especially, the family the fortitude to bear the loss.

On their parts, the children of the diseased, Mr. Sunday and Francis Okoye as well as Mrs. Chinenye Nwosu, and others, described their late father as a man of optimism and benevolence, praying for his eternal repose in God’s bosom.

Dignitaries that graced the ceremony were the Chief justice of Enugu State, Justice Priscilla Emeghelu, Judge of Anambra State High Court, Justice Jude Obiora and wife, members of the Nigeria Bar Association from across the country, Royal fathers and numerous others.

The Holy Mass, musical displays, condolences and reception among others climaxed the burial.
