Over one hundred students took part in the  tenth matriculation ceremony of ONIT College of Education, Mbaukwu, in Awka South Local Government Area.

ONIT College which offers all educational courses is affiliated to the Niger Delta University, which has been in existence for twenty years.

Correspondent Blessing Uchendu, was there for the ABS and reports that ONIT College of Education was founded in 2008 with a mission of providing training on technical, vocational and professional courses to enable students relate to problems in the Nigerian environment and apply the acquired knowledge in relevant areas of life.

The motto of the institution is knowledge, love and faith to change the world and enable scholars with quality academic performance to compete with their counterparts elsewhere through self-reliance and quality learning.

The matriculation ceremony which took place at the permanent site of the institution, at Mbaukwu, Anambra State attracted members of the academia from Niger Delta University, traditional rulers, parents and guardians of the matriculating students and many other visitors.

Addressing the new students, the Vice Chancellor of Niger Delta University, Professor Samuel Edomioukumo, represented by the Acting Director, Institute of Continuing Education,  Dr Godgift Paulley, expressed gratitude to God for the tenth matriculation ceremony of ONIT College of Education, noting that the vision of Niger Delta University, is to create excellence that is defined by well-articulated academic programs that birth creative and innovative minds to maintain an international reputation for high quality scholarship, research and academic excellence.

Professor Edomioukumo further encouraged the management and students of the institution to be diligent and committed in their programmes by working hard to sustain the good image and reputation of the institution.

On her part, the Registrar of ONIT College of Education, Mrs Azukaego Gasu, charged the new students to be guided by the institution’s vision which is the basic foundation of their learning process.

ONIT consultant, Professor Oby Nwafor, advised the students not to be carried away by school life, but rather strive to graduate in due time with good grades, be of good character and conduct alnd assured them that the management would give them full support.

The Chairman on the occasion Dr Azubike Nkala, charged them to be responsible students and shun absenteeism, examination misconduct, certificate forgery, cultism and other unwholesome activities.

Some of the new Students, including Reverend Father Titus Ndubisi, Chinenye Ani and Cynthia Ofoegbunam, expressed gratitude for the opportunity to be admitted into the college and pledged to give in their best to succeed.

The new students were later administered with the oath of allegiance by the Registrar of the Institution, Mrs Gasu.
