Anambra State Government, through the Ministry of Youth Empowerment and Creative Economy, has flagged off the fourth edition of “One Youth One Skill” Empowerment Programme in Awka.

 

In her address at the event the State Commissioner for Youth Empowerment and Creative Economy, Prof. Theresa Obiekezie, said two hundred youths have been enrolled in this edition of the empowerment programme, adding that best fifty candidates will be equipped with startup packs after the training.

Prof. Obiekezie also revealed that the Ministry has plans to meet its target of training about ten thousand youths under the programme at the end of the year.

Delivering lectures at the event, Dr. Iyke Umeh and the Deputy Director of ICT Department, Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka, Engineer Azubuike Aniedu, enumerated seven steps to take in order to succeed as an entrepreneur to include; finding the right skills, learning about the chosen skill, planning the business and  packaging, among other steps.

 

They urged the youths to maximize the opportunity provided by the State government to empower themselves.

Present at the flag -off ceremony were the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mrs. Louisa Ezeanya, the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Obiano on Creative Economy, Radio and Television Broadcasting, Mr. Marcel Manafa, the Director General Digiprenueurship Office, Engr. Ifeanyi Aniagor among others.

 

Music performance by ABS Nelo Josh was parts of the highlights of the flag-off ceremony.
