The Director General of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, Captain Nuhu Musa has confirmed that the ongoing Anambra International Airport at Umueri, is truly of international standard.
Captain Musa made the confirmation while inspecting the airport project in company of Governor Willie Obiano and other senior officials of the Aviation Authority.
Government House Correspondent, Ejike Abana reports that  according to Captain Musa, with the level of compliance to standards, Anambra State has demonstrated that it means business.
While adjudging the control tower as one of the best in the country, as well as other facilities, Captain Musa stressed that all the things needed in a standard airport are within the airport, pointing out that when completed, the airport will be a significant enabler of economic development in the area.
Responding, Governor Obiano, who reiterated that the airport will be functional by April 2021, said that the govt has achieved a greater percentage of the project.
Earlier, the Commissioner for Works, Engineer Marcel Ifejiofor revealed that the Governor has been supporting them since the project commenced one year ago, revealing that though they started with five contractors, eight contractors are now working on the project.
Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority empowered by the Civil Aviation Act 2006 regulates Aviation Safety; carry out oversight functions of Airports, Airspace, and Meteorological services among others, including economic regulation of the industry.
