To ensure that the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, emerges stronger for the 2021 Anambra Governorship election, Afa Igbo Bu Ofu, a support group in the Party, has called for free and fair primary election that will meet the nation’s electoral guidelines.

The group made the call during its  maiden anniversary and award day for outstanding members of APGA held at Professor Dora Akunyili Women Development Centre, Awka.

Our correspondent, Joseph Egbeocha reports that present at the event were the traditional ruler of Awba-Ofemili, Igwe Ezekwesili Mmaduagwu, National President of Anambra State Association of Town Unions, ASATU, Barrister Titus Akpudo, Special Adviser to Governor Willie Obiano on Political Matters, Barrister Ifeatu Obi-Okoye, APGA stakeholders in Anambra State including Chief Ben Obi, as well as members of Afa Igbo Bu Ofu Support Group.

Others were Governorship aspirants under the party, including Nze Akachukwu Nwankpo, Honourable Chukwuma Umeoji, Mr Melie Onyejepu, Honourable Thank-God Ibeh, Dr. Okwudili Ezenwankwo, Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu represented by Dr. Kingsley Ezekwelu.

In his address, the National Leader of Afa Igbo Bu Ofu, Mr Onyedika Chukwuma, said free and fair primary election will enable the party forge a common front in order to emerge victorious in the forth-coming Anambra gubernatorial poll, calling on APGA leaders, aspirants and members to support the move.

Mr Chukwuma mentioned legacy projects being executed by the Obiano administration, to include International Cargo and passenger airport at Umueri, International Conference Centre Awka, Awka Township Stadium among others insisting that APGA has brighter chances of winning in the coming governorship poll.

On his part, an APGA Chieftain, Chief Ben Obi, assured that APGA will use free and fair primary election to elect its governorship candidate, even as the National President of Anambra State Association of Town Unions, ASATU, Barrister Akpudo, called on Party members to elect credible and saleable candidate that will sustain and surpass the tempo of development in the State

All the governorship aspirants present at the event took time to commend Governor Willie Obiano for raising the bar of development in the State, and noted that free and fair primary election in APGA will enable the Party elect a candidate that will consolidate on the gains recorded by the Obiano administration.
