Global Community Celebrates April Fools Day today.

April Fool’s Day which is celebrated every First of April, is probably the most light-hearted day of the year, filled with practical jokes, pranks and tricks being played on people all over the world.

 

The day is not a national holiday, but widely recognised and celebrated as a day when many people play all kinds of pranks at the expense of their friends and neighbours.

 

Correspondent, Emmanuel Chigbata who sampled people’s opinions on the essence of the day reports that April Fool’s day is a day for pranks and tricks.

 

Speaking on the significance of the day, a businessman in Awka, Mr. Samson Okeke said April fool’s day is a day people crack jokes that sometimes sound real, and actually deceive some people who will later find out that it was only a prank.

 

He advised youths and Ndi Anambra not to crack jokes that is injurious to health as according to him, cracking expensive jokes to a person at the wrong time might lead to fight or destruction of life and property.

 

Meanwhile, a student of Federal Polytechnic Oko, Mr. Damian Okwara opined that April Fool’s Day is a day to make friends and not enemies or dislike people, stressing the need for the jokes cracking to have limitations.

 

On his part, an industrialist, Mr Chukwuma Nwammadu, maintained that this year’s April Fool’s Day should be celebrated with utmost care, adding that celebrants should not use the day to cause disaffection or violence in the society.
