The visit was a routine check-up on Primary Health Care Centres in Anambra State by the governor’s wife, to get first-hand information on the state of the cottage hospitals which mostly serve women and children.
In an interview, Dr Obiano who expressed dissatisfaction at the state of some of the visited Primary Health Care Centres, appealed to the Anambra State Commissioner for Health, Dr Vincent Okpala, who was in her entourage, to follow up on the appeal and see that everything needed to put the health centres in the best shape is achieved within the shortest period.
The Governor’s wife said that the State government is working tenaciously to see that Primary Health Care Centres in Anambra State wear the best look in line with global best practices , observing that the primary aim of the visits must be achieved.
While stating that she will follow-up her visit with regular checks on the facilities, Dr Obiano implored heads of Primary Health Care Centres in the State to always make formal complaints on what they lack in the facilities as government might not be at all places simultaneously.
Also speaking, the Anambra State Commissioner for Health, Dr Okpala noted that the consistency of the vision to remodel grassroots health care delivery has yielded fruits, assuring that enforcement of policies to revamp not-up-to standard Primary Health Care Centres across Anambra State would be given urgent and timely response.
Dr Okpala also commended the Governor’s wife, for taking out time to see things for herself, noted that such gesture would add further verve to priority that has been accorded health care delivery in Anambra State.
