Governor Willie Obiano has decorated the newly-promoted police convoy commanders attached to him and his wife, Dr Ebelechukwu.

The Governor performed the function at his residence, in Aguleri, Anambra East Local Government Area.

Correspondent, Daniel Ezeigwe reports that  the newly-promoted police officers are Toro Muhamed, the Convoy Commander attached to the Governor who was promoted from the rank of an Inspector to Assistant Superintendent of Police and Casmir Afoejuonwu, the Convoy Commander attached to the Governor’s wife, who was also promoted to the same rank.

The two police officers were deployed differently from the Special Protection Unit, SPU, and Police Mobile Force units of the Nigeria Police.

Speaking shortly after decorating the two police officers, Governor Obiano, said that the promotion for service was a product of diligence and commitment to duty, urging the two decorated officers to see the new feat as a springboard to further hard work.

Governor Obiano who also reminded the officers and men of the Nigeria Police of his friendliness to security agencies in the state, pledged to continue to give support to any legal security architecture that exist for the progress of Anambra State.

The Governor also offered immediate employment to Deputy Superintendent of Police, Ikechukwu Nome, who is retiring from the Police, after thirty-five years of service.

Mr Nome has served in different security positions since the inception of the present administration including Commader in charge of Guard Duty, Governor’s Convoy and lately Commader in charge of police surveillance team at the Anambra International Cargo and Passenger Airport, Umueri.

Chief Security Officer to the Governor, Mr Chinedu Anagbaoso as well as the security team attached to the governor and his wife, were present at the function.
