Thirty new members have been admitted into the Orders of the Knighthood of Saint Paul, Saint Christopher, as well as Ladies of Bethany by the Anglican Diocese of Awka
Out of the thirty new members who received the investiture, eighteen of them are of the Order of the Knighthood of Saint Paul, nine were initiated into the Order of the Knighthood of Saint Christopher while three ladies got initiated into the Order of Ladies of Bethany.
Correspondent Valentine Mbadugha reports that among those honoured with the Knighthood investiture are the Special Adviser to Governor Willie Obiano on Indigenous Medicine, Dr Onyekachukwu Ibezim, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Special Services, Sir Nwabufo Nwankwo, the MD/CEO Anambra Clear Drainage and Forest Preservation Agency, Sir Chido Obidiegwu and Sir Pat Orjiakor.
The Archbishop, Ecclesiastical Province of the Niger and Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Reverend Alexander Ibezim, who carried out the investiture, charged Knights to use their new position in the Church to ensure a better society.
Governor Willie Obiano, who spoke through the Anambra State Head of Service, Barr Harry Udu urged them to discharge their duties in line with their oath and pledge.
On her part, the Member representing Anambra Central Senatorial District at the Red Chambers, Senator Uche Ekwunife charged the Knights to impact on the society positively, calling on Ndi Anambra to support the government in building a safe and secured environment.
Some of the Knights who spoke to the ABS, including the Special Adviser to Governor Willie Obiano on Indigenous Medicine, Dr Onyekachukwu Ibezim and a stakeholder in Nibo Community, Sir Pat Orjiakor reassured of their determination to live a life worthy of emulation.
It was gathered that between 1996 to 2021, Anglican Diocese of Awka has initiated five hundred and sixty-six Knights including the newly initiated, the deceased Knights and those that joined other Diocese.
The Investiture, which was the eight in its series, took place at the Cathedral Church of Saint Faith Awka.
