The Assistant Inspector General of Police Zone 13, Ukpo, Anambra state, AIG Haffiz Mohammed has vowed to unravel the circumstances surrounding the recent killing of a young man in the presence of his mother at Okija in Ihiala Council Area.

 

Mr Mohammed gave the assurance during a security meeting with people of Okija at the town’s square.

 

While condemning the act, AIG Mohammed regretted that the situation has caused serious unrest in the community and warned that henceforth no act of violence will be tolerated in the community saying that the police has carried out investigations into the matter and will deal decisively with anyone involved in the act.

He said that his men have been properly briefed and equipped to fight crime in Anambra and Enugu states to a halt as he said that the resent security challenges in the South East region should be of utmost concern to everyone.

 

The AIG wondered why people will resort to killing their fellow human beings like chickens and urged Ndi Okija to come up with necessary information that could lead to arrest of all those involved in the security challenges in Okija.

 

The traditional ruler of the community Igwe Emeka Okezie, appreciated the AIG for the visit and promised the support of his subjects in ensuring that normalcy returned to the community even as he said that the hoodlums are on the run for fear of the punishment awaiting them for the evil act.

Speaking earlier, two illustrious sons of the community, Sir Daniel Chukwudozie and Ernest Obiejesi, appealed to the AIG to use his good office to bring back sanity to the once peaceful community, regretting that the situation has caused serious setback to the socio economic growth of the community.

 

The AIG was accompanied on the visit by the Deputy Commissioner of police Operations, DCP Sallam Dogo.
