Governor Willie Obiano has commended the Medical Director Apex Multi Specialty Hospital, Awka, Professor Uchenna Nwosu and Board of Directors for listening to the State government’s clarion call on think-home philosophy.

The Governor gave the commendation through the State Head of Service, Barrister Harry Udu, during the commissioning of Neurosurgery and Intensive Care Units of  the hospital in Awka.

Correspondent Theophilus Ukoha reports that   Governor Obiano said he is happy that most Ndi Anambra are now keying into the Akuluo Uno call by establishing their businesses in the State.

The Governor who applauded the addition  of Neurosurgery and Intensive Care Units by the hospital, said the units will complement what his administration has put in place, such as the Oxygen plant at Amaku, Awka, Anambra Health Insurance Scheme among other measures to improve health conditions of Ndi Anambra.

Earlier in his address, the Medical Director of Apex Multi Specialty Hospital, Mr Nwosu, who is a Professor of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, explained how his vision for establishing the hospital started, saying that by adding the Neurosurgery and Intensive Care Units to the hospital, citizens of Anambra State and beyond who need close attention following severe illnesses and unconsciousness can now get a chance for life, while victims of major brain and spinal cord injuries can now avail themselves of the much needed services of Neurosurgeons at various units of the hospital.

Professor Nwosu thanked Governor Obiano for the vision of establishing an Oxygen plant in the State, noting that the Oxygen plant will ensure supply of life saving Oxygen to every hospital bed at all times.

The Chairman of the occasion, and first Executive Governor of Anambra State, Chief  Pius Ezeife, said the akuluo uno initiative by the benefactor is now a gesture to reckon with, and has triggered development of quality rural healthcare delivery and health education, which are now available at Apex Multi Specialty hospital, Awka.

Members of the Anambra State Health Insurance Agency, ASHIA, and other distinguished personalities graced the occasion which featured cutting of tape for the commissioning  and tour of the units.
