National  Space Research Development Agency, NASRDA, in collaboration with Universal Basic Education Commission and Anambra State Universal Basic Education Board ASUBEB have organized a-two-day E-  Project Monitoring and Training Workshop for staff of the Department of Planning, Research, Statistics and Procurement ASUBEB.

The workshop, held at ASUBEB hall Awka, focused on capacity building with development of skills and application of space technology for quality assurance.

Education correspondent, Theophilus Ukoha reports that while declaring the workshop open, the executive chairman, ASUBEB, Chief Patrick Ugboaja, said the training is long overdue considering some of the teething challenges experienced in the monitoring of UBEC projects in the state and assured that at the end of the workshop, participants will learn new methods in electronic projects monitoring that simplifies data.

In his goodwill message, the Director General, NASRDA, Dr. Aliyu Sheba, represented by Mr. Michael Ekwe, said the training components will focus on capacity building for staff in application of geo information and related technologies in areas of disaster management to ensure timely and quality delivery of projects at the grassroots through space technology application to basic education in Nigeria.

He enjoined participants to embrace the E project monitoring system as it has operational ability for organic growth capable of accommodating other future applications and minimizes human errors.

In his remark, the Director, Department of Planning Research Statistics and Procurement, ASUBEB, Chief Uchenna Ezeani said the workshop will be of great benefit to the staff as it will expand their knowledge in projects monitoring to nip in the bud, the issue of abandoned projects.

In one of the lectures on Electronic Survey System Monitoring, Mrs. Blessing Nwadike a member of the NASRDA team, intimated participants on usefulness and methodology of the system as it allows automatic assessment adding that the device is simply for accountability and accuracy.

Some of the participants, including  Mrs. Chinenye and Obinna Nwachukwu while thanking the Commission for the workshop, promised to apply all they garnered to improve on their work.

Highpoints of the workshop include the unveiling of the device and on hand application.
