Sanitation exercise for April 2021 recorded partial compliance in Nnewi and its environs.
The sanitation exercise recorded low participation as some of the residents keyed into the initiative while many were seen going about their normal businesses.
ABS Correspondent, Valentine Mbadugha, observed that there was high level of human and vehicular movement irrespective of the monthly sanitation exercise.
Some of the places visited during the monitoring exercise include, Igwe Orizu Road, Ibeto Junction, Bank Road, Nnobi Road and Traffic Light axis where men of the Operation Clean and Healthy Anambra, OCHA Brigade stationed a check point to ensure compliance.
Speaking to the ABS, a resident, Mr James Ugwu who was spotted cleaning his environment said that he was doing it to help his family and the government as he said that hygiene and healthy living are interwoven.
In an interview, the Anambra South Commander of OCHA Brigade, Mr Emmanuel Obi while commending the law abiding citizens of the state, urged Ndi Anambra to see sanitation exercise as everyone’s business.
He commended the state government and the Nnewi North Transition Committee Chairman, Honourable Chukwudi Orizu for their efforts in making Nnewi clean and healthy.
The OCHA Brigade team during the exercise also carried out public enlightenment on the need for a clean environment.
