A group known as Gallant Ladies International has launched its constitution to formally give the organization the legal structure to operate.

 

The constitution which was unveiled during her maiden National Convention, in Awka, drew members of the group from the thirty-six states of the Federation and the diaspora.

 

Gallant Ladies International is a non-partisan pro-female gender organisation that is set up to foster the participation of women in politics, encourage women to build their confidence and be self-reliant and independent.

Unveiling the association’s constitution, the wife of the Anambra state Governor, Chief Mrs Ebelechukwu Obiano represented by the former Lawmaker that represented Idemili North Local Government in the State House of Assembly, Honourable Nkoli Mmegbuanaeze, lauded the effort of the founder in bringing  women towards the evangelism of women empowerment.

 

The Governor’s Wife asked them to hold strongly the aim of the association and ensure full support of their husbands in all they do, to build exemplary homes and reminded them of the need to participate in the electoral process.

In her remark, the Commissioner for Social Welfare, Women and Children Affairs, Lady Ndidi Mezue who praised the women for the right step they took in founding the organization, said their target also falls into the governor’s wife campaign of ensuring that women are not relegated to the kitchen but rather  supports and represent the family with confidence and dignity.

 

Earlier in an address, the President and Founder of the group, Mrs Ifeoma Anyaka, said the purpose of the convention was to reunite and strategize towards achieving its set objectives as well as unveil the constitution that gives the group regulations so as not to deviate from its mission and vision.

 

In an interview shortly after the event, a governorship aspirant under the platform of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, Mr. ThankGod Ibeh and his counterpart in the All Progressives Congress, Chief Johnbosco Onunkwo, congratulated the group and described it as a major milestone of reorganizing the women into strong body and giving themselves a boost of recognition in all aspects of life.

The event climaxed with the inauguration of local governments and states executives, cultural performance and March past by all the representatives of the women numbering over two thousand.
