Governor Willie Obiano has called for sustained prayer by the Church in bringing lasting solutions to security challenges in the country.
He made the call at Abba, during a requiem Mass officiated by the Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Reverend Paulinus Ezeokafor, for the late Lady Grace Ifeoma Adichie, who until her death, was a permanent member of the Anambra State Basic Education Board, ASUBEB and mother of world renowned author Chimamanda Adichie .
Governor Obiano, who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Solo Chukwulobelu, announced that Igbos in the diaspora had renewed the call for prayer following emerging security challenges in the country, especially Southeast, assured that his administration is leaving no stone unturned in retaining Anambra as the safest State in the country.
Earlier in his homily, Bishop Ezeokafor expressed worry over rising security challenges threating the unity of the country, and called for honest and decisive action by the Government.
Correspondent Joseph Egbeocha reports that the former Governor of the State and Vice-Presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, in the last general election, Mr. Peter Obi, also attended the Mass.
