Anambra State Council of the Nigeria Union Journalists NUJ has organized a re-dedication service for its members.
Njideka Okoye who was there reports that the re-dedication service featured anointing of the executive, prayers for all members and unveiling of the union’s agenda, especially on effective and accurate reportage during the forthcoming governorship election in Anambra State.
In his remarks, the Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists in Anambra State Mr Emma Ifesinachi said that the Congress was the first of the year which they normally rededicate and commit the Union to God.
He charged Journalists to live up to their responsibility of informing the public accurately saying that Anambra is in an election year and there is need for Journalists to reposition themselves properly to make input into the process to ensure that the people make the right decision.
The Secretary of the Union, Mr Emma Udeagha maintained that there is need to get every member to share the vision of the Union for the year so that all will be part of the progress and success the Union want to achieve.
One of the members of the Union and the Director News and Current Affairs of the Anambra Broadcasting Service, Mr Gab Okpalaeze stated that it behooves Journalists to explain to the people those who wants to lead, who they are, their antecedence and what they plan to do so that the public will know the truth and get it right for the benefit of all.
For one of the executive members of the State Council of the Nigeria Union Journalists Mrs Betty Onuchukwu-Ikwueme, the initiative was to bring the members together and share the agenda of the Union for the year for full participation and charged Journalists to uphold the truth in their reportage.
The Month’s Congress commenced with prayers, re-dedication and ministration by a guest preacher, Pastor Joseph Nwabueze who reminded Journalists of the need to always say the truth at all times.
