A non-governmental organization, Nduka Foundation has renovated corps members’ residence at Lake City Secondary School, Nri, Anaocha Local Government Area.

The commissioning of the renovated structure which was held at the school auditorium attracted teachers, parents, corpers members and students of the school amongst others.

Correspondent Blessing Uchendu reports that according to the President of Nduka Foundation, Dr Chinwe Nduka, who was represented by the Coordinator of the Foundation, Chief Emma Okafor, the aim of renovating the corps members’ lodge was to help increase the efficiency and effectiveness of the auxiliary teachers  and improve the quality of education as well  ensuring easy access to teachers by the students in the school.

She listed other activities of the Foundation to include; assistance to the less privileged, reward for excellent service delivery to schools management, scholarship scheme, among other.

In her welcome address, the Principal of Lake City Secondary School, Nri, Mrs Vivian Okeke, said that the project which is a self-contained five bedroom bungalow took off on the 25th of August, 2020 and was completed on the 25th March, 2021, and commended the President of Nduka Foundation for her unquantifiable love for the school and prayed God to bless her.

Some stakeholders of the community including the chairman of the occasion who is also a former President General of Nri, Chief Frank Oraekei, Mr Godwin Uzoegbo, Chief Pascal Oraekei, the PTA Chairman of the school, Mr Anthony Maduka, commended the president of the foundation for her humanitarian lifestyle, and the massive investment in the development of Nri Kingdom, urging the corps members to work assiduously in assisting the community in meeting its developmental vision so as to justify the good gesture of the foundation.

Performing the commissioning, a former Chief Judge of Anambra state, Justice Peter Umeadi, described what the foundation has done as goodness examplified and called on other affluent members of the community to borrow a leaf from the foundation in order to take Nri to greater heights and as well as a urged  the corps members to take proper care of the building

Responding on behalf of other corps members, the Liaison Officer of corps members in the School, Mr Anthony Enuabanosa, promised that they would make proper use of the lodge and ensure that they continue to touch the lives of the students of the school positively.

Also in attendance were the Special Assistant to Governor Willie Obiano on Events, Chief Anthony Ugorji, President General of Abagana, Sir Ikem Onwuadi and Reverend Sister Rona Onwuadi among others while prayers on the new lodge were made by Reverend Canon Fidelis Ibezim.
