A non-governmental organization, Hope Givers Initiative has charged children  to impact positively on the society by laying credence on education and skill acquisition for a brighter future.

The organization gave the advice in Awka during a one day sensitization meeting with teenagers .

Correspondent, Valentine Mbadugha reports that while addressing the gathering, the Project Coordinator, Hope Giver Initiative, Mrs. Onyeka Okey-Udegbunam asked them to positively utilize the adolescence age by engaging in things that will benefit them in the future rather than involving in early marriage.

She noted that adding value to oneself is key to achieving greatness.

A guest speaker, Mrs. Ify Unachukwu, who is the Head of Television, Anambra Broadcasting Service, ABS, while speaking on the theme, “Curtailing early marriage and violence against female and male child in Anambra State” highlighted the need for one to be matured in mind and body before venturing into marriage.

She called for collaboration among stakeholders in the fight against early marriage and gender based violence.

In their separate remarks, the traditional ruler of Amanuke, Igwe Alphonsus Ezebuilo and his Ukwalla counterpart, Igwe Chukwuemeka Ajodo advised the teenagers to focus more on building capacity and constant personal development.

For the Present General, Awka Development Union Nigeria, Women’s Wing and the Coordinator, Women for Women Anambra State Chapter, Barrister Mrs. Ego Ekweozor, early marriage should be discouraged irrespective of the circumstances.

The event featured interactive session, where participants shared their daily experiences and possible solutions proffered by the stakeholders.
