Nnewi North Local Government Area has played host to the Federal Commissioner National Population Commission Sir Chidi Ezeoke and Team on Sensitization Meeting at the Palace of Igwe Kenneth Orizu the third.

The event is to sensitize and educate Nnewi stakeholders including the council Executive, Igwe in Council, Presidents-General of town unions and ward councilors on the need for them to prepare the indigenes and the inhabitants of their localities on the forthcoming area demarcation.

Correspondent, Chimezie Umeh reports that according to Sir Chidi Ezeoke, who represents Anambra State in the Commission,  the area demarcation exercise will provide yardstick for the forthcoming national census.

He explained that Enumeration Area Demarcation is the method of mapping or breaking down a locality into smaller units which a pair of persons or enumerator is capable to enumerate during the population and housing census.

Sir Chidi stated that the exercise is paperless and is based on Satellite Imaging Maps which can be easily accessed using Internet.

Educating the stakeholders, Anambra State Director of the National Population Commission, Chief Joachim Urasi highlighted the possible items and procedures and called on the stakeholders to comply with the commission.

Among the people present at the meeting were Transition Chairman Nnewi North Local Government Area Prince Chukwudi Orizu, Igwe Kenneth Orizu, Traditional Heads of the four quarters of Nnewi, President-General Nzukora Nnewi, Dr Maduka Atueyi, among others.
