The Catechist Gabriel Ezekwo Memorial Chapel and Umuchu Unity Center in Saint Thomas Anglican Church, Umuchu has been re-dedicated by the Bishop of Aguata Diocese Right Reverend Samuel Ezeofor.
The handover and commissioning of the historic edifice also featured the unveiling of the book titled “In His Days” co-authored by Chief Samuel Ezekwo and Mr Ejiofor Umegbogu in honour of the late Catechist Gabriel Ezekwo who was a pioneer Catechist in the Church, a social crusader and colossus.
In a sermon at the special service to mark the official handover ceremony, Bishop Ezeofor reminded Christians that spiritual encounter gives one the opportunity to acknowledge the supremacy of God and thanked Chief Ezekwo for immortalizing the icon.
The Chairman on the occasion and Chief Judge Emeritus of Anambra State, Justice Peter Umeadi in a remark observed that the biography spelt out the fulcrum of the trailblazer, whose memorable sacrifices and adventure set goals for the future generation and lauded the benefactor for keeping history afloat.
Earlier in an address, the host and benefactor Chief Samuel Ezekwo maintained that the act of social engineering exhibited by his father will leverage as a resourceful reference across the Country.
Dedicating and presenting the book to the public, Bishop Sosthenes Eze of Enugu North Diocese described the book as a wakeup call and motivation for advancing evangelism.
Reviewing the book the Anambra State Commissioner for Basic Education Professor Kate Omenugha described the book as a rich harvest of socio cultural and anthropological work.
Among the dignitaries that graced the event were a one-time Dean of the Church of Nigeria Anglican Communion Most Reverend Maxwell Anikwenwa, the traditional ruler of Umuchu, Igwe Godson Ezechukwu among others.
