Nnewi Chamber of Commerce Industry Mines and Agriculture has Inaugurated its tenth President.
The new President, Rotarian Jude Osumuoh was inaugurated alongside other Executive members.
Staff reporter Emengini Osadebe who covered the event for the ABS reports that the new Executive will pilot the affairs of the Chamber for the next two years.
The inaugural ceremony which was held during the twentieth Annual General Meeting of the Chamber also featured Award presentation to some distinguished members for their outstanding contributions to the development of the Chamber and the society at large.
In his opening remarks the Chairman on the Occasion Chief Robert Anwatu challenged members of Nnewi Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture to unite and add value to the Chamber, while commending them for the theme of their annual general meeting “Global Economic Crisis and Domestic Impact of COVID-19” which according to him is apt considering the effect of the pandemic on Commerce and industry in the Country.
In a welcome address, the immediate past President of the Chamber Mr Ifeanyichukwu Uzodike who appreciated God for a successful tenure called on the new Executive to attract Programes that will keep the chamber afloat even in the face of the pandemic.
In her good will message the National President Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce Industry Mines and Agriculture, Mrs Saratu Iya Aliyu represented by the past President Onitsha Chamber of commerce Mr Don Ebubeogu appreciated Governor Willie Obiano for his support to Chambers of Commerce in the State saying that the security of life and property being enjoyed by the people as well as the construction of International Cargo and Passenger Airport will help boost Commerce and industry in the State.
A keynote speaker Mr Ifeanyi Okoye who spoke extensively on the theme “Global Economic Crisis and Domestic Impact of COVID-19” called on government at different  levels to encourage Small And Medium Enterprises to diversify to different sectors of the economy saying that COVID-19 has come to stay hence there is the need for all to get vaccinated and observe all its protocols to remain strong and alive while the guest speaker Sir Orji Udemezue challenged all employers of labour and captains of  Industry to improve on their human capital for their businesses to thrive amidst COVID-19 crisis.
In his acceptance speech the new President, Nnewi Chamber of Commerce Industry Mines and Agriculture Rotarian Jude Osumuoh pledged to sustain the existing cordial relationship between the government, the Chamber and other relevant authorities by encouraging good government policies while revealing the plan of the chamber to extend its coverage to other business Communities.
Speaking to the ABS in their separate interviews, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Transportation, Mr  Eloka Maduekwe who is also the Public Relations Officer of the Chamber and the Executive Secretary Mr Obiora Ibekwe urged the new president to remain focused and inject positive changes into the chamber.
Some Industrialists Chief Cletus Ibeto, Mr Humphrey Ngonadi, Chief Johnray Okonkwo among others attended the event.
