Indigenous auto-mechanical consortium, Audi Generators and Mikano International have donated forty-eight thousand pieces of non-surgical disposable face masks to Anambra State Government to support the fight against COVID-19.
The donation was received by the Secretary to the Government of Anambra State, Professor Solo Chukwulobelu, in his office, on behalf of the Governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano.
Correspondent, Daniel Ezeigwe, reports that Professor Chukwulobelu, who appreciated both firms for reaching out to the state, noted that Anambra State has shown aggressive confrontation in contending with the ravages of the virus, starting from when it broke in late 2019.
He said that the spread of the virus has been limited, with no reported cases in the last few weeks.
On his part, the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Audi Company Limited, Mr Clem Ifezue said that the donation was part of the company’s cooperate social responsibilities and way of reciprocating the long partnership with Anambra State.
The Anambra State Commissioner for Health, Dr Vincent Okpala, who joined to receive the materials, said that Governor Willie Obiano had prepared the state’s health sector well to tackle the virus, observing that the low number of recorded cases in the state was as a result of head-on responses.
He said that the donation came in handy despite the low count of COVID-19 recorded cases in the state, but noted that it was important to remain vigilant giving the recent ambush of India and Ethiopia by the virus.
Mikano International is a household tech company in Nigeria that has currently gone into production of medical equipment and assembling of automobiles, while Audi Generators is a subsidiary of the firm that is basically into generator importation.
The forty-eight thousand face masks donated to Anambra State Government were also produced by Mikano International.
