The Federal Government has announced that students of Federal College of Forestry Mechanization Afaka in Kaduna State will no longer pay school fees throughout the duration of their course, while plans are on to relocate the college to a safer location.
Addressing journalists in Kaduna yesterday, the Provost of the College, Dr. Usman Bello said the Minister of Environment, Dr. Muhammad Abubakar has concluded plans to temporarily relocate the College to a safer place; put in place adequate security as well as vehicles to serve as shuttle to convey staff and students from the temporary site to designated bus stops within the Kaduna metropolis.
According to Dr. Bello all these would be communicated to the public as soon as the arrangement has been perfected saying that the Minister has directed that the school fees of the affected students be waived for the programmes they are currently running.
The Provost said it is important to State that the frantic efforts of all the stakeholders including the Minister and the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Environment, the Board Chairman and the Commissioner of Police, Kaduna State Command, Alhaji Umar Musa Muri, led to the rescue of the first ten set of the abducted students.
