Following the spread of Delta variant of the Coronavirus across Lagos, Akwa Ibom, Oyo, Rivers, Plateau States and the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, the Federal Government has urged Nigerians to ensure strict compliance with COVID-19 safety protocols.
Chairman of Presidential Steering Committee on COVID-19, Mr Boss Mustapha, who spoke at a media briefing, expressed concern over the rising cases in recent times, noting that the country’s test positivity ratio had also increased to about six per cent.
Mr Mustapha, who is also the Secretary to the Governor of the Federation, said the Presidential Steering Committee had been meeting to deliberate on the rising number of COVID-19 cases and proffer ways to prevent the spread of infections, noting that Nigeria has recorded about five hundred cases daily in the last seven days.
