The 2021 Annual Camp retreat of the Evangelical Fellowship in the Anglican Communion (EFAC), Aguata Zone, begins today. The four-day evangelical fiesta with the theme: “Walk In The Spirit”, will take place at Saint Peter’s Church, Umunze. The retreat has the Bishop of Ideato Diocese, Right Reverend Henry Okeke as the keynote speaker, with Venerable Emma Uzuegbunam, Evangelist Chukwuemeka Chukwuocha, and Nnamdi Eze, as other notable speakers.

The National Chairman of Evangelical Fellowship in the Anglican Communion EFAC Nigeria, who is also the Bishop of Aguata Diocese, Right Reverend Samuel Ezeofor JP, Ph.D is the Chief Host. Venerable Benson Ekwueme (JP) is the Hosting Archdeacon with Reverend Ebenezer Okpalaotubelu, as the EFAC Chaplain, Aguata Zone, working with the zonal coordinator, Brother Basil Enye, to ensure a successful camp retreat.

The Evangelical Fellowship in the Anglican Communion (EFAC) was established by a white missioner, John Stott in 1961. EFAC has played a substantial role in the international gospel work. There are now many regional EFAC chapters around the world, including Nigeria, each working to promote biblical faithfulness in their own context.

For instance, in 2018, there was a renewed global initiative to unite, equip and energize those regional movements, as well as start new chapters throughout the world. That notwithstanding, the purpose of EFAC is to serve the chapters through training of their leaders, the Theological Resource Network, the Anglican School for Leadership Formation, and the strategic use of websites, newsletters, and other media.

EFAC facilitates the formation of partnerships between churches and seminaries and the participation of emerging leaders in international conferences and training opportunities. EFAC means so many things to so many people.

EFAC has scriptural, universal, Anglican and international undertones. Its first branch, evangelical, is all about serving Christ by acknowledging and living under the supreme authority of scripture. Fellowship means working together for the gospel with those from all nations, as well as encouraging and building up everyone who shares its biblical commitment.

Moreover, the Anglican in its midst connotes strengthening partnerships with all who claim the Anglican name and value the distractive protestant and reformed heritage within the Anglican tradition.

Finally, communion at its rear portends reaching and serving brothers and sisters on every continent. As can be seen, the purpose of Evangelical Fellowship in the Anglican Communion (EFAC) is to encourage and develop biblically faithful fellowship, teaching and mission throughout the Anglican world.

So, as EFAC Aguata Zone, embarks on its four-day retreat at Saint Peters Church, Umunze, its members are totally convinced that a strong witness to the biblical and reformation principles is essential for the life and health of the Anglican Communion, within the wider context of seeking first God’s Kingdom and the building up of his Ministry.

Generally, the four-day Aguata Zonal Annual Retreat will, among other things, promote the supreme authority of scripture in matters of both faith and conduct throughout the Anglican Communion at every level of its life and witness, in Aguata Diocese of the Communion.

In other words, the members of EFAC in the zone are also going to share with other members of the Anglican Communion and their invitees a commitment to biblical obedience, particularly in the areas of Christian discipleship, servant leadership, church renewal and mission in the diocese.

As the members of EFAC, Aguata Zone are spiritually ready to go into the retreat arena at Saint Peter’s church, Umunze, they should use all the tools available in this modern age to preserve and strengthen the church of today and tomorrow.

Above all, Evangelical Fellowship in the Anglican Communion’s) major goal should focus on ways of raising up a generation of empowered, biblically faithful, servant leaders, who will work together to raise up future generations for Christ. There is no better time to do this, than this year’s camp retreat at Saint Peter’s church, Umunze.
