Anambra State is leading the South East region in the ongoing online Continuous Voter Registration Exercise, with over eighty-four thousand, nine hundred and seventy-six registrants, followed by Imo State, which has twenty-three thousand, eight hundred and twenty-six registrants, while other Southern-Eastern States have recorded less than ten thousand.

 

On the completed registration table, Anambra State still leads with eight thousand, six hundred and twenty four completed registrations, while Imo State has been overtaken by Abia, which had one thousand, eight hundred and eighty nine registrations.

A statement signed by the National Commissioner and Chairman Information and Voter Education Committee, INEC, Barrister Festus Okoye, said as  at Tuesday, third August 2021, the total number of fresh online pre-registrants was one million, three hundred and seventy-seven thousand, seven hundred and thirty-three, while one hundred and twenty thousand,  six hundred registrants have completed their physical registration since the exercise commenced on Monday, twenty sixth July 2021, with youths leading on the age distribution table, with one million and seventy four thousand,  two hundred and sixty registrants.

 

The Commission appealed to Nigerians to take advantage of the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration to either initiate their registration online and schedule an appointment at their convenience to complete the process or visit any of the Commission’s State or Local Government offices nationwide to register.

 

The statement also reminded citizens that the ongoing registration does not include those who are already registered as voters, but for Nigerians who are eighteen years and above, and have not registered before, noting that it is an offence under the Electoral Act for any citizen to register twice.
