Governor Willie Obiano has commended the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria, Anambra, Enugu, and Ebonyi States for its contributions in strengthening the Internally Generated Revenue and creation of employment opportunities in the Southeast geopolitical zone.

 

Governor Obiano gave the commendation during the thirty-third annual general meeting of Anambra, Enugu, and Ebonyi States branch of the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria in Enugu.

Government House Correspondent, Emmanuel Okonkwo was there and reports that Governor Obiano who was represented by his Deputy, Dr Nkem Okeke while pointing out that for manufacturing to thrive in Nigeria, the leadership of the country must create sustainable policies that will outlive the tenure of various administrations and called on federal government to create policies that will encourage  manufacturing.

He called for collaboration of both government and manufacturers in the transformation of the industrial sector.

On his part, the Governor of Enugu State, Dr Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi represented by the Secretary to Enugu State Government, Professor Simon Ortuanya restated the commitment of governments of the Southeast towards ensuring ease of doing business across the geopolitical zone.

In his address, the Branch Chairman of the association, Sir Chuzi Igweobi who spoke through the Deputy, Lady Ada Chukwudozie explained that Manufacturers Association of Nigeria will continue to work closely with the government towards providing favourable and conducive manufacturing atmosphere for all genuine manufacturers towards massive industrialization and globalization of the Southeast States.

Sir Chuzi listed epileptic power supply and multiple taxation as some of the major challenges facing manufacturers in the Southeast zone and Nigeria in general, and asked government at all levels to address them for rapid growth of the country’s economy.
