Rotary International District 9142 has bestowed on Rotarian Abuchi Nwozor of the Anambra Broadcasting Service, ABS, a Meritorious Service Award for exemplary
leadership as a Rotary President.
The award was given to Rotarian Nwozor, who is currently two time president of Rotary club of Awka, Nnamdi Azikiwe University during a vibrant visionary leadership seminar organized by the Rotary International District 9142, held at Owerri, Imo State.
Speaking during the event, the immediate past District Governor of Rotary International District 9142, Dr. Ndukwe Chukwu said that the award is to encourage Presidents of Rotary in various clubs to be more committed in their service to God and humanity.
Dr. Chukwu, who also conferred the award on other Presidents, who distinguished selves in their service year, charged Rotarians to always build friendship, and work towards the objectives of Rotary as an International organization.
One of the guest speakers, Rotarian Kalu Peters, who spoke on the need to grow Rotary membership through the formation of clubs, reminded Rotary Leaders of the need to seek ways of chartering new clubs for enhanced growth of Rotary club.
Dr. Emma Ude-akpe, the pioneer Governor of Rotary District 9142 and the current Governor, Dr. Okey Okonkwo cautioned Rotarians against acts capable of portraying Rotary in bad light.
They charged Rotary Leaders to always engage on projects and programmes that will have direct bearing on the people especially the downtrodden.
