Governor Willie Obiano says his administration will continue to place high premium on health care delivery.

Governor Obiano stated this during a forum organized by the Nigeria Medical Association, Awka Branch in Awka.

Declaring the event open, Governor Obiano, represented by the Commissioner for Health, Dr Vincent Okpala, said that his administration has made remarkable progress towards attaining global healthcare targets with notable policies.

Commending the Nigeria Medical Association Awka Branch for choosing an insightful theme for this year’s meeting, Governor Obiano applauded the leadership of the association for the relentless service in health care delivery in Anambra State.

On his part, the National President of the Nigeria Medical Association, Professor Innocent Ujah, represented by the National Treasurer, Dr Eric Anazodo, said that Nigeria Medical Association will continue to ensure that members live above board in their medical practice, to enhance quality healthcare services and also charged members to be professional in their practices.

In his welcome address, the Anambra State Chairman of the Nigeria Medical Association, Dr Jide Onyekwelu, said that the forum is an avenue for all medical practitioners to gather and discuss with other stakeholders in the health sector on new developments in health care delivery.

The keynote speaker and Chairman Nigeria Medical Association in Abia State, Dr Chimezie Okwuonu, said that Nigeria has recorded low results in the area of tissues and organ donation, which he described as important aspect of successful medicine for the extension of human life.
