The Anambra State House of Assembly Committee on Housing and Urban Development has expressed satisfaction with the quality of job done at the Anambra State International Conference Centre, Awka.

 

The committee disclosed this when it went on oversight function at the gigantic project.

 

House of Assembly Correspondent, Chukwuemeka Modilim was there and  reports that on arrival, the committee met workers on site painting the magnificent International Conference Centre.

 

Speaking to journalists after inspecting the project, the Chairman of the committee, Honourable Lawrence Ezeudu, observed that the construction firm handling the gigantic project is working according to specifications, adding that the jobs done so far is commensurate with the funds appropriated for the project by the Anambra State House of Assembly.

 

Conducting the committee round the project, the Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, Architect Michael Okonkwo, explained that the International Conference centre with twelve thousand sitting capacity is eighty percent completed.

 

He further said that the project is one of the legacy projects of Governor Willie Obiano that will generate huge revenue for the state, create employment opportunities, as well as portray the image of the state in good light.

 

The Commissioner expressed confidence that with the International Conference Centre, Anambra State can host internal and external conferences which can result in business boom within the area.
